About Us

Special Collections at Memorial University consist of a general rare books collection, major subject collections in Folklore, Pre-Raphaelite Literature and the Victorian Illustrated Book, and Ecclesiastical and Theological literature. There are also a number of smaller collections in the disciplines of English Literature and of Classics.

Most QEII special collections are catalogued and can be searched using Memorial University Libraries' online catalogue. Special collections not yet catalogued may be searched through online bibliographies. Items from the collections do not circulate but can be viewed at the Archives and Special Collections reading room (located immediately behind the Centre for Newfoundland Studies service desk).

As of fall 2021, in-person access to Special Collections materials and reference services is by appointment only. Faculty and students should contact the Speical Collections librarian, Patrick Warner, at pwarner@mun.ca, giving twenty-four hours’ notice, if possible.
