Document Delivery Turnaround Time

The number of days it takes for Document Delivery staff to fill a borrowing request depends on a number of factors: whether the requested item is non-returnable (a photocopy) or returnable (a loan), whether the supplier is commercial or a library, and whether the method of delivery is snail mail, courier, fax, Ariel, etc.

Turnaround time is defined as the number of calendar days between the patron's initiation of a document delivery request and the library's notification to the patron of the final outcome of that request.

In 2005-2006, the average number of days to complete a request for a returnable item is 13.1, and the average turnaround time for a non-returnable item is 5.1 days.
