Library Cards

Faculty, staff, students, retirees and alumni: your library card is your Memorial University ID (Campus Card ). You must present this card to borrow all library materials.

MUN Campus Cards cards can be obtained as follows:
St. John's Campus - Centre for Student Life, University Centre, Room 3005
Marine Institute - Registrar's Office
Grenfell College - Student Affairs, Rom AS233

Guest Cards, are obtained from the Circulation Desk in the Queen Elizabeth II Library or the Health Sciences Library but can also be used at the Marine Institute Library and the Ferriss Hodgett Library, Grenfell Campus, Corner Brook. For more information, go to the Circulation Desk of the library from which you wish to borrow.

USER/ALT ID & PIN

Your USER ID is the barcode on the front of your Campus Card. Students can also use their ALT ID, which is their student number. The ALT ID for staff and faculty is the last 7 digits of your University ID barcode. For faculty and staff at the Marine Institute who are current/former students of Memorial University, the ALT ID is the same as your student number. At Grenfell College, a combination of last name and first initial are used for staff and faculty ALT ID numbers.

To obtain a PIN number visit your Library Circulation Desk with your University ID card. Students will be emailed their PIN at the beginning of each semester. If you have lost your PIN, please use the form located here to have it emailed to you or visit the Circulation desk.

Many Library resources are accessible from outside the Library through the web page. Some resources are restricted to Memorial students, faculty and staff. To access restricted resources, you will need a USER/ALT ID and PIN.

Status of "in process" and "on order" material

In-Process
If you find a record in the Catalogue with the status "in-process", it means the book has been received but is not yet ready for circulation. To obtain a book that is "in-process", ask at the Information Desk of your Library.

On Order
If you find a record in the Catalogue with the status "on order" it means the book has been ordered for the library but has not yet been received. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing when the book will arrive. If you are not in a hurry, you can ask that it be held for you when it arrives. You can also request a document delivery for the item. For details on how to do this, ask at the Information Desk of your Library.
