Guide to RefWorks at Memorial University Libraries
Use RefWorks to collect references and automatically format a bibliography in any style (e.g. APA, MLA). RefWorks is free to MUN students, faculty, and staff.
Sign up for an individual account to:
- Import references directly from indexes, databases, and e-journals.
- Automatically format a bibliography or reference list in over 500 citation styles.
- Insert formatted references in a paper with free Write-N-Cite plugin for MS Word.
- Use RefShare to share references with others.

Leaving Memorial?
- Leaving Memorial means that you will lose off-campus access to RefWorks. If maintaining access to your citations is important, be sure to take advantage of RefWorks various export options before you leave MUN.
- Each RefWorks account has the ability to export RefWorks data into one of these formats: Bibliographic Software (EndNote,Reference Manager,ProCite), BibTeX - RefWorks ID, Citation List, RefWorks Tagged Format, RefWorks XML Format, Tab Delimited, XML (deprecated), or as a text file. To do this, select 'Reference' and 'Export' from your personal RefWorks account, and you will be given several export options.
- Keep in mind that you can continue to access your RefWorks account on campus.
