Importing Citations into RefWorks
With RefWorks, you can export/import citations directly from most of the indexing/abstracting databases and many electronic journal collections offered through Memorial University Libraries. See Getting your References into RefWorks from the
RefWorks Tutorial for more information. Export/import directions for the Memorial University Libraries Classic Catalogue and Memorial WorldCat Catalogue are provided below.
To get export/import directions for indexing/abstracting databases click on Index Listing and then click on a specific index to get export/import directions.
Memorial University Libraries Classic Catalogue
- Perform search and view results.
- Mark records you wish to import into RefWorks by clicking the Keep button next to each desired record.
- Click on Kept.
- Change "view of records" to Full.
- Click on the RefWorks logo.
- Login to your Refworks account.
- Records are automatically imported into the Last Imported Folder.
Memorial WorldCat Catalogue
There are two options for exporting to RefWorks from WorldCat Local:
Exporting a single record
- Perform search and view results.
- Click on the title for an item that interests you.
- Click on the Cite/Export link.
- Select "Export to RefWorks" in the pop-up window.
- Login to your Refworks account.
- Records are automatically imported into the Last Imported Folder.
Exporting a marked list
- Create or sign into your WorldCat account.
- Perform search and view results.
- Mark records you wish to export by clicking the box next to each desired record.
- Select [new list] from the "Save to" drop-down; click "Save".
- Create list (public or private) and click on "Create New List"
- Back on the Results Page click on "your list".
- Go to "Citations view".
- Select "to RefWorks" from the "Export selected references" drop-down.
- Login to your Refworks account.
- Records are automatically imported into the Last Imported Folder.
