Food and Drink Policy (Health Sciences Library)
- No eating is permitted in public areas of the library including study rooms, computer workstations, audiovisual or other electronic equipment areas. All food must be stored out of sight in closed containers.
- Drinks are allowed if they are in a covered container. Alcoholic beverages are NOT permitted at all. There is a no fault spill reporting policy (no fine or other penalty). The sooner we know about a spill the better we can minimize damage, so please report any spill you make or notice.
REASONS: The library recognizes the importance of responding to your requests, and of having an environment that is conductive to your research and study needs. At the same time, the library wants to continue to minimize book and equipment damage, stains, garbage, and rodent/bug problems.
Individuals who are eating, or drinking from uncovered containers, will be asked to leave the library or discard the items. Security will be called to assist if necessary
Eating and drinking in Library Staff Areas
Library staff are permitted to eat and drink in certain parts of the Library (some offices and in the staff lounge). This keeps food confined to controlled areas. Staff who eat in their offices are required to place food remnants in the lunchroom garbage for daily collection. Food that is stored should be kept in the fridge or inside covered containers.
