How to Scan an Image
The Health Sciences Library public scanner can scan from the flatbed (maximum page size is 8.5" X 11") or by using the single pass Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) (maximum page size is 11" X 14"). To scan both sides of a sheet when using the ADF you have to pass the sheet through twice. You can use either the EPSON SCAN software (recommended) or the PaperPort software to access the public scanner.
- Place your image or document on the scanner flatbed (single sheet or image) or in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) for multiple sheets
- Click on the EPSON SCAN software icon located on the desktop
- Select the software mode: Home, Office, or Professional. Office is the default and recommended for general use.
- Set the location of the file to be saved and the format (JPEG, TIFF, PDF ...) in the File Save Settings screen
- Click the Scan button on the bottom of the menu to scan the image/document
- If you are scanning more than one page you can choose to add images to one document or save just one image/page per file
To Print:
- After saving the file the EPSON SCAN software will automatically open the folder where the file was saved
- Choose Print
- Double click on the file name to open the file (depends upon the type of file format saved)
- Choose the Print option from whichever program opened the file
- Select Printer from the drop down menu
- HSL_PopupPrinter for B&W print (5 ¢ / page)
- HP Business Inkjet 1200 for colour print (20 ¢ / page and $1.50 / transparency)
- Click OK
