Reference Materials | How to Contact Us
Staff at the Information Desk provide help with your simple informational or more complex library reference questions. Although our services primarily support the Health Sciences programs, the Health Sciences Centre, and health practitioners in this Province, we will also provide limited assistance to members of the general public.
We can help you with:
Instruction is available for individuals or groups, and can be tailored to specific subjects, needs, locations, and times. For more information, see Information Literacy Instruction.
Information Desk staff oversee the Reference collection, which consists of print and electronic information sources, including encyclopedias, dictionaries, indexes, and bibliographies. Off campus use of most of our electronic indexes is restricted to members of Memorial University, the Health Sciences Centre, or NLHKIN.
All library users can have in-library use of print or electronic reference material for health research needs. Most of our collection is of a clinical nature. However, we do have some reference books of a more "popular" type shelved in the bookstack unit beside the Information Desk.
Assistance is available whenever the desk is staffed, see Hours.
Contact us in person, by telephone, fax, chat, email, or by using the Ask a Librarian form.
We check for messages throughout the day and try to answer as quickly as possible. If you are looking for in-depth or specialized research help, we suggest that you Ask a Librarian for a one-on-one instruction session.
