Internet Guide: BUBL LINK

Database: BUBL is a subject guide to academic, high quality web resources. All resources are evaluated, selected and annotated by librarians. Arranged into subject categories, BUBL provides a search function for its database.

Size: Approximately 11,000 web sites.

Search Tips: BUBL is structured similarly to a library catalog. The records for each web page include the author, title, description, and subject headings. Search terms are found within this record, not the actual web pages. Therefore, use broad search terms.

The "Combined search" will give you the highest retrieval because your search terms are found anywhere in the record. The "Simple search" allows you to restrict search terms to one field. The "Advanced search" allows you to combine search terms in different fields.

Boolean operators are not available when searching within one field. The system defaults to an AND operator between multiple terms. However, the Advanced search allows you to choose a boolean operator between each field, i.e. between entry boxes.

Browsing is recommended.
