Database: The Open Directory of web sites.

Size: Approximately 2 million web pages.

Search Tips: You can enter product, company and service names directly into the Location Bar (where you normally enter an URL). This feature, called Internet Keyword, takes you directly to an organization's web site. For example, type "united airlines" into the Location Bar.

Open Directory
Boolean and,or, andnot are available. Searches cannot be nested using parentheses. If multiple search terms are entered without a Boolean operator, Open Directory defaults to an and operator, retrieving sites that contain all the search terms.
+ Requires Use the "+" symbol before a search term to indicate that the term must appear in the search results.
- Excludes Use the "-" symbol before a search term to exclude that term from the results.
Truncation The "*" (asterisk) is available for right-hand truncation, e.g. feminis* retrieves feminist, feminists, feminism.
Phrase Searching Enclose the words to be searched as a phrase in double quotes, e.g. "mad cow disease"
Limiting to Specific Fields Not available.
