Internet Guide: Yahoo!

Databases: The Yahoo directory, a subset of the Google database, Research Documents (a fee-based service of approximately 7000 full-text sources, including journal articles), News, and more.

Size: The Yahoo directory includes approximately 2 million web pages.

Search Tips: Yahoo provides results in five categories. Categories include all the Yahoo category headings that match the search terms; Web Sites include all the sites in the Yahoo directory that include the search terms in the titles and descriptions; Web pags are sites from the subset version of Google. Note that when in Advanced search, the search options you choose apply only in the Yahoo directory, i.e. they are not forwarded to the Google subset database. Also, Yahoo's search syntax is not always compatible with Google's search syntax. If you need more results than those obtained under Categories and Web Sites, it is recommended that you go directly to another search site and run your search there.

All search terms are automatically stemmed. You can turn off the automatic stemming by enclosing the search term or terms in quotes. This means that all phrase search has the automatic stemming deactivated.
