About the Music Resource Centre

CDs Where are we?

We’re located with the School of Music on the 2nd floor of the M.O Morgan Music Building (room MU2026). While we primarily serve faculty and students of the School of Music, the MUN community and general public are welcome to visit us.

Our Collection

We have printed music (scores), sound and video recordings (in various formats), and a small reference section. Our collection focuses on Western art music, with smaller amounts of jazz and other styles. We also provide access to streamed sound and video recordings, digitized scores and e-journals. We are a repository for the recordings and programs of past School of Music performances and recitals. Items from the repository can only be used in the library.

Additional printed music and recordings are housed in the QEII Library. Newfoundland and Labrador related music is available in the Centre for Newfoundland Studies. If you still need more music collections, be sure to contact us for further information.

Our Facilities

We’re pleased to offer the following:

  • a viewing station with players for DVDs, VHS cassettes, and LaserDiscs
  • a listening station with players for CDs, cassette tapes and LPs

We lend headphones and headphone splitting jacks so you can listen with your friends or group. We also have a portable DVD player for PAL formatted discs on reserve and for use within the library.  In addition to the above, we have a USB external optical drive (CD and DVD player for laptops) and chargers for a variety of smart phones.

We also offer four computers for research and general use. Full details on computers and technology can be found on our Printing and Technology page.

Our Study Spaces

We provide tables and individual carrels for study, as well as one group study table for collaborative work. We do ask that you respect your fellow students and maintain a quiet study space.
