Policies for Study Room Usage (QEII Library)

Study Rooms are Available to MUN Students Only


There are 12 "Group" Rooms, 7 "Conference" Rooms, and 34 "Single" Rooms located in the QEII Library. These are:

4007-4010 - 4th floor
5007-5010 - 5th floor
2014A - 2nd floor
3010A - 3rd floor
4001,4010A, 4016 - 4th floor
5001 and 5016 - 5th floor
401-424, 4th floor
511-520, 5th floor
All other rooms in the library are allocated per semester to "Honours Dissertation and Graduate" students.

  1. All study rooms are signed out on a first come first served basis.
  2. Monday -Thursday
    Friday
    Saturday
    Sunday
    8:00am - midnight
    8:00am - 6:00pm
    10:00am - 6:00pm
    12:00pm - 10:00pm

  3. Study rooms cannot be booked ahead of time.
  4. All study rooms are allocated up to a maximum of three hours.
  5. The number of patrons required to sign out a room are:
  6. Single:
    Group or Conference:
    1 patron
    2 or more patrons

    Please Note:  
     
    Converstation must be kept at a level which does not disturb patrons. If a problem occurs,
    the student(s) will be asked to leave.

  7. A valid, updated MUN Campus Card must be presented to a library staff member
  8. Your MUN Campus Card will be kept at the Circulation Desk unitl you vacate the room. At that time your Campus Card will be returned to you.
  9. Please inquire at the Circulation Desk if you need to know the next available time for a Group, Conference, or Single study room.
  10. Waiting in a "line-up" is a personal choice. Two or more students are required to wait in the "line-up" for a group room. Please inform Circulation Staff if you wish to wait in the area indicated by staff. If you choose not to wait, again, let the staff know.
  11. Group, Conference, and Single rooms may be renewed if there are three or more rooms available.
  12. Any room left vacant for 20 minutes or longer will be signed out to the next student(s).
  13. Campus Enforcement Officers are continuously checking the status of the rooms.
  14. Eating and drinking: see Library Food Policy.
  15. Furniture must not be removed or brought in to the Library.
  16. Belongings left in the study rooms will be taken to the Circulation Desk and may be claimed upon presentation of proper identification. After 20 minutes of "vacancy" the study room will be assigned. Personal belongings are the student's responsibility.
  17. The Library's policy on "Confidentiality" prevents staff from informing other patrons of the identity of the patrons who have signed out rooms.
