Information for Non-MUN Graduate Students

If you have not obtained your ASIN/CURBA card from you home library prior to your visit, MUN Libraries will attempt to issue a card which can be used while you are in St. John's.
Library Cards (864-7423)
MUN Libraries requires proof of current registration (student card or letter from your university) before issuing you a card. We will also need your:
- Local address and phone number
- Email address
- Permanent address
- Student number

PLEASE NOTE:
- Service hours within the library vary
- Hours are extended during exams
- Books may be returned through the book drop when the library is closed. The drop box is located at the front entrance.
- Between semesters, the hours change
Library Privileges
With an "ASIN/CURBA" card your privileges include:
Loans
- Books - 4 months
- Journals - 1 week (except for the most current issues)
Renewals
- Books and journals may be renewed unless a hold has been placed on them by another library user.
- books and journals may be renewed through the MUN Libraries home page under Make a Request
- Non-MUN Graduate Students cannot place holds
- there may be restrictions on use of reserve material
- there are restrictions on the use of most Ebooks, EJournals and Article Indexes
- Non-MUN Graduate Students do not have access to Document Delivery Service, Intercampus loans, or DistancePlus.
Books may be recalled if:
- After 2 weeks from your initial charge out date if put on hold by another patron.
- IMMEDIATELY if needed for Reserves.
Note: To avoid a Recall fine, return the item within 3 days of the date of the Recall notice.
Fines
The only fines charged by the Library are for:
- Recalled books not returned within 3 days of the date on the bottom of the notice ($2.00/day)
- Overdue Reserve material ($2.00/hour)
- Lost book (or other material) (cost +$5.00 non-refundable processing fee)
Please note: Other library services such as study rooms, Document Delivery, Intercampus Loans, remote access to licensed article indexes, DistancePlus, holds, recalls, are not available to holders of "nonmungrad" cards.
