This periodical literature index to Newfoundland topics contains articles on all aspects of Newfoundland's description, history, development and resources, natural sciences, technology and the social sciences. Articles by Newfoundlanders but not about Newfoundland issues are only included if they in some way exemplify Newfoundland culture, for instance, literary works such as short stories, poetry or humour. An item on pure biology or on another country's history would not be included. A wide variety of journals are culled for their Newfoundland content. Book reviews have been included. Coverage is from the 17th century to the present. As of October, 2000, the database contained over 70,000 entries. Additional information on the database may be obtained from Joan Ritcey, Centre for Newfoundland Studies, Queen Elizabeth II Library, Memorial University of Newfoundland.
