Make a Gift to the Centre for Newfoundland Studies

Gifts in Kind

The Memorial University Libraries welcomes all gifts, whether they be financial contributions or "gifts in kind", such as books, journals, audiovisual materials, scholarly or personal papers, microforms, computer media, cartographic materials and so on. We hope you will think about donating any Newfoundland and Labrador in-kind materials that you may have in your personal library to the Centre for Newfoundland Studies. Please contact us if you aren't sure about the value of what you own.

The Library reserves the right to determine which donated items to add to its collections, and to dispose of those items it decides not to keep. The Library may donate rejected items to another institution or sell them in a library book sale for charity. Or they may be returned to the Donor if s/he so stipulates in the Deed of Agreement made with the Library.

Deed of Agreement

To prevent misunderstandings, donors of materials are asked to fill in a formal Deed of Agreement, which comes into effect when it is signed by the Donor and the Library Representative. If the Donor wishes the return of material that the Library does not want, the Library will take ownership of the materials only when the decision is made concerning the particular items to be added to the Library collections.

Donations to the Library are usually acknowledged in University media services, unless the Donor specifically requests anonymity. Upon request, donated items may be labeled with a bookplate showing the name of the Donor.
