Special Collections Access Policies

The Queen Elizabeth II general rare books collection and other special collections may be searched online by using either Memorial University Libraries' Catalogue or bibliographies available through the Digital Archive.

Items from the collections may be viewed at the Archives and Special Collections reading room (located immediately behind the Centre for Newfoundland Studies service desk). New patrons will be required to register. The collections are not open for browsing. Requested items will be retrieved from the stacks by staff. Items are non-circulating and must be used in the Archives and Special Collections reading room. General reference questions may be handled by Archives and Special Collections staff. For more detailed reference queries or other questions related to Special Collections, please contact the Special Collections Librarian.

The photocopying of rare and vault items is not permitted. Digital cameras without flash may be used with permission from staff.

Photocopying of items from other special collections may be permitted depending on the condition of the particular item.
