The Archives portion of Archives and Special Collections holds an extensive collection of original manuscripts, personal papers, diaries, scrapbooks, photographs and other such materials which document various aspects of Newfoundland society. Major collections include literary, labour, theatre and the performing arts, women, post-Confederation Newfoundland politics and social organizations and activities. The Special Collections portion of Archives and Special Collections at Memorial University consists of general rare books collection, major subject collections in Folklore, Pre-Raphaelite Literature and the Victorian Illustrated Book, and Ecclesiastical and Theological literature. There are also a number of smaller collections in the disciplines of English Literature and of Classics.
