Cell Phone Policy

Please turn off cell-phone ringers while in the Library. If you do need to talk on your cell phone, we ask that you do so outside the Library in consideration of others.

Food and Drink Policy

To create a more welcoming environment, the library is requesting the assistance of its users with its new food policy which allows food and beverages to be consumed in the library.

Beverages - environmentally friendly travel mugs are preferred. However, beverages in covered containers that reduce spills can be consumed in the library.

Food that is cold and produces minimal mess and smell (e.g. vegetables, crackers, cheese, raisins, sandwiches, bagels, granola bars, etc.) may be eaten in the library. Please help us keep the library clean by depositing your waste in garbage cans and recycling bins available on each floor.

Gifts Policy

The Ferriss Hodgett Library welcomes all gifts, whether they be financial contributions, or donated materials such as books, journals, audiovisual materials, and so forth.

The Ferriss Hodgett Library usually accepts donated items if they are of scholarly value. However, items may be rejected on the basis of poor physical condition, outdated content, inappropriate academic level or subject focus, or similar grounds.

Gifts in the form of financial contributions will be coordinated with the Office of Alumni Affairs and Development. The gift may be refused if its purpose is not consistent with the aims of the Ferriss Hodgett Library. With respect to donations of money designated for the collection, the Ferriss Hodgett Library reserves the right to use its discretion in purchasing materials with the funds provided.

The Ferriss Hodgett Library reserves the right to determine which of the donated items to add to its collections, and to dispose of those items which it decides not to keep by sale, donation to another institution, or other means. However, rejected items may be retrieved by the donor if prior arrangements to do so are made with the Library. The Ferriss Hodgett Library reserves the right to determine the location and degree of access to donated items which are added to the collection.

Except in cases where the donated collection is of considerable scholarly value, the Ferriss Hodgett Library will not maintain a public access list of donated items. However, donated items may be marked with a bookplate upon request.
