Guest Users

Individuals who would like to borrow library material but are not a current MUN student, faculty or staff member, nor alumni, can obtain a Guest User card at the Library. These cards can also be used at the Queen Elizabeth II, Health Sciences, and Marine Institute Libraries in St. John's.

To obtain a Guest User card you must be 19 years of age or older and a resident of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. You must provide a current piece of identification with proof of address (eg. driver's license). Please note there is a $7.00 replacement cost for lost or stolen cards. The responsibility for ANYTHING borrowed with a library card rests with the individual to whom the card is issued. You must have your card with you in order to sign out material.

Borrowing (637-6236)

Guests may borrow books for 2 weeks and must check the material out in person. Books may be renewed online or by contacting the library, unless someone else has placed a HOLD on them. Books may be recalled at any time if requested by another patron or if needed for Reserves. Please note that books may be returned through the book drop when the library is closed.

Document Delivery (637-6200 ext. 6271)

Books and articles not available at the Ferriss Hodgett Library can be obtained from other libraries. All costs are passed on to guest borrowers. To make a Document Delivery request, please contact the Library.

Online Journals

Guest Users can access the online journal collection using one of the 4 Reference Area computers. Guest Users are not able to print or email journal articles. However, library staff will print articles upon request to a maximum of 5 articles, and at a cost of 20 cents per page.

Photocopying

There are 2 photocopiers available on the main level of the Library. Photocopy costs are 10 cents per copy. Machines take coins (the Library does not provide change). Copies from Microforms are available from the Circulation Desk at a cost of 20 cents per copy.

Save money and the environment: Ask Library staff how you can scan your item and email a paperless e-copy to yourself for FREE.

MUN is committed to compliance with copyright laws, and all photocopying should comply with the Copyright Act. Please read the University's Use of Public Photocopiers for more specific guidance.
