Health Information Teaching Series (HITS) provide opportunities for faculty, students, staff and Eastern Health HSC employees to learn more about library resources, tools for research, publishing and more. Citation Management (RefWorks)

Citation management software has become an essential tool for tracking and managing bibliographic references. Using citation management software can help you to avoid the painstaking task of formatting in-text citations and bibliographies by hand. This session will provide a brief overview of various citation management software options and their features. In addition, common citation management software functionalities will be demonstrated using RefWorks. Participants will learn how to import references from a variety of sources and databases including PubMed and Google Scholar. Participants will also learn how to organize and manage references. Finally, participants will learn how to easily generate in-text citations and bibliographies in Microsoft Word in a variety of citations styles including APA, AMA and Vancouver.

Advanced Literature Searching (PubMed)

Accessing relevant articles to support research and clinical decisions is key to evidence-based practice (EBP). This one hour interactive workshop will present successful strategies for conceptualizing database research in PubMed, and translating information requests to extract the most relevant literature. Participants may but are not expected to bring topics for research.
