Memorial University Libraries Open Access (OA) Publishing

Memorial University Libraries continues to invest in sustainable and equitable forms of OA. Funds previously used for the OA Author Fund are being redirected towards broader transformative agreements and memberships that increase OA publishing opportunities with many publishers. These agreements have saved Memorial’s researchers over $600,000 Canadian dollars in 2024 alone.
OA publishing tips:
- Search by journal title, subject area or publisher to see what OA agreements the Libraries have in place.
- The Directory of Open Access journals provides a wealth of information on OA journals, including those that fall outside of our current agreements. Researchers can find information on journal editorial policy, open access policy, author rights, as well as cost associated with publishing OA.
Some important reminders:
- Prior to submission, check journal homepages for the costs associated with publishing OA and other OA policies;
- Determine the rights you retain for your work after publication, the types of licensing agreement you will have to sign, and know the costs associated, if any, publishing with that particular journal.
