Full details on our spaces can be found on our Study Rooms and Spaces webpage.
The Commons is a partnership between Memorial University Libraries, Information Technology Services, the Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning, and the Writing Centre and is located on the second (main) floor of the QEII. This space brings together technology, writing support, and research expertise. The Commons offers 189 computers and collaborative workstations for research and scholarly work. The Commons Classroom is an open, silent area for research and computing when not in use for classes. Check out The Commons webpage for full details on software available in this area.
The Teacher's Legacy Rotunda
The Rotunda, located at the base of the University clock tower in the tunnel between the library and the Smallwood Centre, is our newest collaborative workspace. It includes 16 computer stations, and ample room for students to collaborate.
The Digital Media Centre
The Digital Media Centre (DMC) is a specialized area of The Commons that offers multimedia software, hardware, and expertise, as well as individualized tutorials in multimedia software. Available resources include a green screen, scanners, color printers, and large-scale printing for materials such as academic posters. Visit the DMC website for full details on the software and services they offer.
Be sure to check out the art displayed as part of our First Space Art Gallery, located on the perimeter of The Commons on the main floor of the library. First Space highlights work from local and emerging artists, graduates of the Visual Arts program at the Grenfell campus and other members of the Memorial community.
