Overview
This is an interactive app that gives students commands in which they need to follow. The activities range between sounds of words, math problems, vocabulary and reading comprehension.
I give it 3/5 as it is not a teaching app but more of a practice/activity app. It is not a necessity, more something that can be used when a student is finished an activity early and still needs some work in broadening their French comprehension skills. It has a storyline that carries through and is clear and precise in it’s instructions.
One drawback ro this app might be that it is European. Therefore activities dealing with money or measurement (if there is such an activity in the full version) may have little to no benefit for a student in a Canadian French Immersion classroom. However, in regards to the money, this shouldn’t impose too large of a problem because all the money is labeled with numbers like 1, 2, 5, 10, etc. and addition rules are, of course, universal.
The App was created by Hachette Livre.
I would like to point out that Hachette Livre has a lot of great French apps for Language Arts (reading, writing, etc.) and Math.
Grade Levels
Grade 2 - 3
Strength: Offers a variety of activities so that students can expand their French knowledge not just in the domain of French but in areas such as Math as well.
Weakness: After a while the game becomes repetitive, ultimately losing its appeal and no longer helping the students learn anything new.
This app is free but there is a paid version. In addition, this app is part of a trilogy, each one having a different storyline and serving a different grade/skill level of the French language. The others in the series are:
